Our dancer Jurák Bettina Rose has received a Junior Prima Primissima Award!

We warmly congratulate Jurák Bettina Rose, a dancer with our company, on receiving a Junior Prima Award! She is the first contemporary dancer in 12 years to receive the honour.

After completing her initial arts education, Bettina studied dance at the Pécs Secondary School of Arts and earned her degree from the Hungarian Dance University. She received major professional recognition early in her career: the Association of Hungarian Dance Artists named her Best Graduating Student of the Season and later Best Emerging Dancer of the Season. In 2026, she received a Junior Prima Award.

Throughout her career, she has worked with many leading Hungarian companies, including the Frenák Pál Company, Budapest Dance Theatre, Pécs Ballet, Kecskemét City Ballet, Feledi Project, Badora Dance Company and Eva Duda Dance Company. In 2021, she joined Ivgi&Greben in the Netherlands. A year later, she became a member of GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, where she worked with internationally acclaimed artists including Alexander Ekman, Johan Inger and Emma Portner. During her years in Gothenburg, she also played an active role in establishing a choreographic platform within the company to support new creative work.

Since autumn 2024, Bettina has worked as a freelance artist, dancing, creating, choreographing and teaching in Hungary and abroad. Her collaborators include the Netherlands’ Scapino Ballet and Luxembourg’s JC Movement Production. She has choreographed for Swedish singer Sarah Klang and performed alongside Australian musician RY X across Europe. She is currently developing her own projects while performing and creating with the Frenák Company.

Her artistic language is shaped by emotional depth, storytelling through the body and a belief in the transformative power of movement, both onstage and in the body’s inner processes. Her work combines finely detailed, expressive movement with a powerful presence. She approaches the body as a poetic medium, bringing nuance, softness and sensuality to her performances.

Bettina has steadily developed her choreographic practice since 2018. Her first major work was Analóg, and she went on to create regularly for productions at Kecskemét City Ballet. In 2019, she co-choreographed Blue Bird.

In 2021, inspired by Márton Simon’s poetry collection Polaroidok, she created the dance theatre production Nem érek rá, lélegzem. In 2025, she premiered her first solo work, Crack Your Heart Open, which she both choreographed and performs. She is a co-choreographer of the Frenák Company’s new production Frenesie, set to premiere in October 2026. Her new work, The Sun and His Little Stars, is scheduled to premiere at MU Theatre in spring 2027.

Her creative work also extends to film. She worked as an assistant choreographer and dancer on The Testament of Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold and starring Amanda Seyfried. Her short film Inhale Calm, Exhale Chaos, directed by András Ladocsi, premiered on NOWNESS. Her latest work, Periphery, directed by Péter Becz, has received award nominations at international festivals in the United States, England, Germany and Denmark. In Berlin, she won second prize in the Best Performer category.

Alongside her performing career, Bettina is a certified movement coach and Sattva yoga teacher specialising in kriya practices, breathwork and meditation. She has taught actively since 2020, working primarily with people who are not dancers. She is currently deepening her practice through training in trauma-sensitive somatic education and will soon qualify as a somatic educator for women. In this work, she supports people in reconnecting with their bodies’ inner intelligence, sensations and capacity for self-healing.
